What Is Depression?

Depression is a common, but serious, mood disorder that impacts how you think, feel, and act. While many people experience depression-like symptoms at some point, depression is more than “feeling blue” or “down in the dumps.” Depression symptoms interfere with your daily functioning and are not easy to overcome. Common symptoms include:

  • Feeling sad or hopeless
  • Losing interest in the things you used to enjoy
  • Feeling tired or fatigued all the time
  • Sleeping too much or too little
  • Trouble thinking or concentrating

Another symptom of depression can be thoughts of suicide or even suicide attempts. If you’re experiencing suicidal thoughts, please call 911 immediately.

Why Choose Owens Mental Health for Telehealth Services for Depression?

Telehealth services make managing your depression symptoms easy. You aren’t limited to the psychiatric nurse practitioners or mental health treatment providers within driving or commuting distance. Instead, you can connect with a licensed, caring provider no matter where you or they are. What’s more, several studies have found that telehealth services for depression improves access to care and is just as effective as in-person treatment
