What Is PTSD?

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event, such as abuse, natural disasters, or combat. While experiencing PTSD symptoms soon after the event is common, when the symptoms linger for months and interfere with your daily life, you may need mental health support to get control over your symptoms.

Symptoms of PTSD are varied and complex, but can include:

  • Vivid flashbacks or nightmares
  • Sadness
  • Anxiety
  • Intense fear or guilt
  • Avoiding anything that reminds you of the traumatic event
  • Feeling detached from the world
  • Physical symptoms, like headaches or chest pain

Why Choose Owens Mental Health for Telehealth Services for PTSD?

Telehealth services make managing your PTSD easy. You aren’t limited to the psychiatric nurse practitioners or mental health treatment providers within driving or commuting distance. Instead, you can connect with a licensed, caring provider no matter where you or they are. Treatment can take place from the comfort and privacy of your home, and it’s easier to schedule an appointment that fits into your busy life.

Note

Washington State mandates some in-person appointments for patients taking a controlled substance. We will discuss this during your sessions.
